Fission into equally sized three fragments

Abstract

Despite early theoretical predictions, the true ternary fission (with three identical fragments) was not experimentally detected until now. By solving an integro-differential equation one can obtain the equilibrium (saddle point) shapes without being necessary to specify a certain parametrization.
