Abstract
An Artificial Market (AM) is a computational approach to study a market economy. Since its use is still a novelty, and it makes intensive use of computers as a research tool, interdisciplinary collaboration by economists and computer scientists is key to a successful study. However, researchers belonging to these two disciplines may not share a common culture for a scientific approach to the issue. This paper discusses what cultural differences exist between these two disciplines through experiences in the U-Mart project which is ongoing artificial market study started in 1999.
