Überlegungen zu Bio- und Bodyhacking

Zusammenfassung

Der vorliegende Beitrag liefert zunächst einen Überblick über die zentralen Begriffe, die im Bereich von Biohacking und Bodyhacking eine Rolle spielen, und thematisiert ausgewählte Beispiele. Es wird deutlich, wie die Konzepte zusammenhängen und dass neuartige Informationssysteme entstehen. Auf dieser Grundlage findet eine kurzgefasste philosophische und speziell ethische Diskussion zu Bodyhacking statt. Dabei wird nach der Verantwortung der Wirtschaftsinformatik gefragt, die in diesem Bereich involviert sein kann und sich bisher andersartigen soziotechnischen Systemen gewidmet hat. Zusammenfassung und Ausblick bilden den Schlusspunkt. Es zeigt sich, dass Bodyhacking Chancen mit sich bringt. So vermag es überkommene Konventionen aufzubrechen und eine neue Sicht auf den Körper und seine Umwelt zu verschaffen, wovon auch die Wirtschaftsinformatik profitieren kann. Es birgt freilich ebenso Risiken moralischer und gesundheitlicher Art.

Abstract

The present article first provides an overview of the central terms that play a role in the field of biohacking and bodyhacking, and deals with selected examples. It becomes clear how the concepts are connected and that novel information systems are emerging. On this basis, a brief philosophical and especially ethical discourse on bodyhacking takes place. The responsibility of information management, which can be involved in this area and has so far devoted itself to different socio-technical systems, will be examined. Summary and outlook form the final point. It turns out that bodyhacking brings opportunities with it. In this way, it is able to break with outdated conventions and create a new view of the body and its environment, from which information management can also benefit. Of course, it also harbours moral and health risks.
