The June edition of the Jahresbericht includes one survey article and five book reviews.

The focus of this volume is on the work of László Lovász to celebrate the Abel prize he received together with Avi Wigderson in 2021.

The survey article by Johannes Carmesin explains and illustrates modern developments of graph theory and shows a number of open problems and research directions. It is written in order to be accessible to the readers who are non specialist in this subject and I hope you will appreciate the survey on this exciting subject. The subject of the survey article is complemented by a book review, written by Frédéric Meunier, on Lovász’ new book ‘Graphs and Geometry’.

Further, you will find four other book reviews on a large variety of subjects. Andreas Neukirch reviews Higman and Kloeden’s book ‘An Introduction to the Numerical Simulation of Stochastic Differential Equations’, Oliver Schnürer reviews Dan Lee’s book ‘Geometric relativity’, and Laurent Bartholdi writes on the book ‘Complexity and Randomness in Group Theory’, written by F. Bassino et al. The fourth book review, written by Christian Kanzow, presents Y. Cui and J.-S. Pang’s book ‘Modern Nonconvex Nondifferential Optimization’.

I hope you will enjoy reading this volume.
