Simultaneous Determination of Six Phenolic Compounds in Jujube by LC-ECD

Abstract

A simple, sensitive and accurate liquid chromatography with electrochemical detection (LC-ECD) method for simultaneous separation and determination of six phenolic compounds, including gallic acid, protocatechuic acid, caffeic acid, p-coumaric acid, rutin and quercetin in jujube has been established. ECD is more sensitive than diode-array detection (DAD) for the detection of the six phenolic compounds. All calibration curves of the phenolic compounds showed good linearity (r ≧ 0.9995) within the test ranges. The recoveries were higher than 98%. This approach can provide a reference to determine phenolic compounds in other products.
