Abstract
A chromatographic-densitometric method for the identification and determination of S(+) and R(−) ibuprofen has been developed. The chromatographic separation was carried out on RP-TLC plates and the following mobile phase was used: β-cyklodextrin methanol (15 +1, v/v). The UV densitometric detection was carried out at λ=222 nm. The method is of high sensitivity, the limit of detection for S(+) and R(−) ibuprofen is 1 μg mg; of good precision and repeatability, the obtained results are within the range x mean ±2S; of high recovery for both isomers approximately 99.18% and wide range of linearity from 0.01% to 0.3%. The presence of both isomers S(+) and R(−)ibuprofen was observed in all preparations at comparable concentrations from 56.04% to 66.16% for S(+) isomer and from 33.84% to 43.99% for R(−) isomer.
