The influence of Na+ on the crystallite size of TiO2 and the photocatalytic activity

The influence of Na+ on the crystallite size and the photocatalytic activity of TiO2 has been studied using TiO2 powders containing Na+. It has been found that Na+ interrupts the formation of anatase crystal and the transformation to rutile and also affects the crystallite size of TiO2. The photocatalytic activity depends on the crystallite size of TiO2 powder. Na+ can be a cause of high photocatalytic activity by affecting the crystallite size of TiO2.
