Abstract

Absorptive and dispersive properties of a four-level Λ-type atomic system with two fold lower levels are investigated. The effect of quantum interference induced by incoherent pump and spontaneous emission upon the absorption, dispersion, and group index is them discussed. In addition, the rate of an incoherent pump field and the intensity of coupling field on light propagation is also presented.
