Abstract

The economic reforms of the 1990s led to a process of archaizing of the rural way of life and to the spread of passive forms of socioeconomic adaptation of the rural population that increased manyfold the peripheralization of the rural area in Stavropol krai. During the last decade of the postreform period, some trends toward the formation of new mechanisms and strategies of the population’s economic behavior started to appear. They have a noticeable influence on the diversity of the social rural structure and on the transformation of its way of life.
