Abstract

Piedmont-seaside plains are widespread in arid regions of the world. They are formed in the coastal strip, where the mountains are close to the seashore. Unlike other plains, they consist of three specific elements of piedmont plain: the pediment, the coastal plain or coast, and the continental part of the region. Soils and the plant cover significantly differ in these landscape components, which is reflected in a variegated soil cover pattern.
