Abstract
The microbial communities of alkali-saline soils and halophytes of the Caspian Depression regions have been studied for the first time. Over 40 species and forms of bacteria have been revealed. Along with a wide variety of soil microorganisms, bacteria of the genera Bacillus and Salimicrobium are the main components of the extremophilic microbial communities; their detection is one of the indices of the taxonomical structure determination, which is closely related to the ecosystem type.
