The sustainability of aquatic ecosystems: an overview of the problem

Abstract

Stability is a major quality of systems. We discuss the mathematical formalization and hydrobiological examples of various definitions of stability: Lyapunov, Lagrange (steadiness), Poisson (periodic stability), Svirezhev (hierarchical), Holling (resilience), Fleishman (vitality), and Gnedenko (reliability) stabilities.
