Abstract
The general operation structure of the Volga-Kama cascade of water reservoirs is described. The effect of controlling the Lower Volga runoff on the interannual variability and intra-annual distribution of runoff is appraised. Changes in the main parameters of hydrological high water regime, i.e., the period and starting dates of the main phases, the water level change rate at high water rise and decline, and water discharge and temperature are considered. Changes in the altitude levels of floodplain flooding and the duration of altitude level flooding during high water in spring are shown.
