Zonal, provincial, and lithologic-geomorphologic features of salt-affected North Caucasian soil expansion are considered. Salt-affected soils comprise 23.2% of the total area of this district. The share of salt-affected soils in the soil cover of this region increases from west to east, from the chernozem zone to the dry steppe and semiarid zone of chestnut and light chestnut soil. Within each zone and soil province, the lithologic-geomorphologic conditions that determine the particular properties of expansion and chemical composition of salinization of these soils are considered.
