Platelet aggregation in clinically healthy persons of the second coming-of-age living in the Kursk oblast

Abstract

Platelet aggregation activity has been examined in 146 clinically healthy persons of the second coming-of-age with a healthy lifestyle and without metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. Healthy persons aged 36–45 years display the absence of statistically significant dynamics of antioxidant platelet defense and lipid peroxidation (LPO) levels. The platelet aggregation in the presence of several inducers examined in persons aged 36–60 years confirms an age-dependent increase in platelet aggregation. After the age of 45, the platelet aggregation activity in healthy persons gradually increases, thereby increasing the counts of active platelet species in their blood and, correspondingly, the counts of various types of circulating aggregates. This is accompanied by the age-related morbid burden, thereby aggravating the negative environmental impacts and manifestations of genetic predispositions to various (primarily cardiovascular) diseases.
