Interaction of vasotonic bioeffectors in endothelial dysfunction pathogenesis due to arterial hypertension during aging

Abstract

In arterial hypertension (AH), endothelial dysfunction (ED) is considered to be one of the earliest impairments of target organs. The association between AH and the severity of EDs in involutive altered vessels has been determined. The characteristics of the association between vasotonic bioeffectors—nitric oxide (NO) and endothelin-1(ET-1)—in connection with the results of endothelial vasodilation have been described. A technique that makes it possible to estimate the degree of interaction between NO and ET-1 has been proposed. It has been determined that on the top of passive vasodilation, which develops as a combination of involutive and hypertensive impairments to the endothelium, maintaining adequate blood flow in the vessel after the mechanical stress-induced exposure is accounted for by the increased velocity of systolic and diastolic blood flow, increased endothelium sensitivity to shear stress, and changes in the synthesis and secretion of ET-1 and NO.
