Effect of the Rate of Fuel Filtration by Hydrophobic Grids on the Efficiency of Its Dehydration

Inorganic Materials: Applied Research Aims and scope

Abstract

The effect of the filtration rate of aviation fuel through metal grids with fluoroplastic coating on the residual water content in the filtrate is investigated. The dependence of the residual water content in the fuel on the filtration rate and grid cell size is obtained. The lower the rate and the smaller the cell size, the lower the residual water content in the fuel. A mechanism for removing water from the fuel associated with the modes of fuel flow in grid cells is proposed. A model for estimating the water content in the fuel when using grids with a known cell area is developed.
