Abstract

In 1998–2009, studies of ichthyofauna were conducted at 36 stations in the Balkhash basin. At present, the ichthyofauna of small waterbodies in the basin is represented by 11 indigenous and 16 alien fish species. Higher species diversity of alien species was registered in waterbodies subjected to strong anthropogenic impact.
