Abstract

When separating enantiomers on chiral crystals of achiral substances, it was found that a relatively high enantioselectivity is accompanied by a low efficiency of columns. Therefore, work was carried out to evaluate the influence of the coefficients of the van Deemter equation on the broadening of the peaks of camphor enantiomers on a chiral stationary phase based on enantimorphic α-NiSO4⋅6H2O crystals (retgersite). From an experimental van Deemter curve, the contributions of vortex and longitudinal diffusion, as well as the resistance to mass transfer, were calculated in the value of an introduced magnitude equivalent to the theoretical plate (h). It is shown that the right branch of the curve for enantiomers of camphor differs. It is established that this difference is caused by different values of resistance to mass transfer in the stationary phase Cs caused by the difference in diffusion coefficients in the pore space.
