Abstract

The study of ion sorption of Cu2+ on fungi isolated from mycelium Aspergillus niger chitin- and chitosanglucan complexes showed that these biopolymers have a fairly high sorption ability. As a result of mathematical modeling found that the theoretical models of Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin are adequate, with a high coefficient of determination (R2 = 0.97–0.99) describe equilibrium sorption of Cu2+ on the studied biocomplexes. An analysis of the sorption parameters obtained from the regression equation shows that the mechanism of sorption of Cu2+ on chitin- and chitosan-containing complexes has a more complex character that differs from the theoretical premises of classical theories and, presumably, is based on the processes of ion exchange and complexation.
