Abstract

Methane elution from a helium flow on layers of activated carbon of different length was studied. It was found that the experimental dependences of the corrected retention time on a length of adsorbent layer corresponded to the recently predicted theoretical dependence which considered the extracolumn effects (or an input pulse). It was shown that the experimental dependences of the symmetry coefficient of the breakthrough elution curve on the length of the adsorbent layer were in agreement with the results of numerical experiment.
