Abstract
The low-temperature isotherm of nitrogen adsorption on activated carbon prepared from polymer was measured. The obtained isotherm of adsorption cannot be linearized using the known versions of the equations developed in the theory of volume filling of micropores. A sufficient approximation was found in the case in which the isotherm is expressed by a two-term equation, and the exponents of the equation are equal to 4 and 3. A variant of determination of microporous structure, which was suggested for the first time, may be typical for an active carbon possessing a bimodal micropore size distribution, when the pore sizes are comparable with the sizes of nitrogen molecules.
