Adsorption of IFKhAN-92 corrosion inhibitor on low-carbon steel from hydrochloric-acid solution

Abstract

Adsorption of IFKhAN-92 inhibitor on low-carbon steel from 2.0 M HCl solution was studied with the use of impedance spectroscopy. The adsorption is found to be described by the Temkin isotherm with relatively high free adsorption energy ΔG ads = 42 kJ/mol. The inhibitor is proposed to be chemisorbed on the surface. This hypothesis is supported by the satisfactory approximation of the adsorption kinetics by the Roginsky-Zeldovich equation and the strong protective aftereffect of the inhibitor adsorbed on the steel.
