Abstract

It was showed using the example of carbon and high alloyed steels that microfouling that develops on the surface of metals possesses high corrosion activity and stimulates corrosion processes. Local corrosion of high alloyed steels can be activated by the vital activity of anaerobic microorganisms under bases of balanus barnacle lodges. Corrosion on metals almost does not develop in the absence of microorganisms (sterile conditions). Microfouling is involved in the destruction of organic basis of protective antifouling coatings, and this process is considered positive.
