Abstract

The influence of aluminum- and silicon-based binders on the structural and mechanical properties of porous silicate ceramics constructed from powdery structural elements was studied. Data from x-ray powder diffraction analysis, differential thermal analysis, IR spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy allowed to propose a structuration mechanism during high-temperature treatment of ceramic samples composed of crystalline silica and an aluminosilicate binder.
