Abstract
The compositions of macro- and microelements in two counties in China and two districts in the south of the West Siberian Plain have been compared to reveal changes in plant mineral nutrition, causing the chlorosis of leaves and parthenocarpy in the Siberian variety of blue honeysuckle (Lonicera caerulea) on plantations in Heilongjiang Province, China. It has been revealed that the widespread chlorosis and dying of leaves, as well as hormonal changes, resulting in parthenocarpal fruits, may be related to soil acidity (рНKCl 4.0–4.5) on some test plots in the Heilongjiang Province. It favors an increase in available Al, Fe, and Mn concentrations to phytotoxic levels. Plants of blue honeysuckle on such plots are characterized by a specific distribution of Al, Fe, Mn, Cu, and Zn in their organs and by the accumulation of toxic concentrations of Al, Fe, and Mn in leaves, which is not typical for this species. This results in the violation of the P/Al, Ca/Al, Mg/Al, P/Fe, P/Mn, Cu/Fe, and Cu/Mn ratios, which are vitally important for plants.
