Abstract
The effect of γ-radiation on antimicrobial properties of gels based on polyvinylpyrrolidone was investigated. It was shown that the effects of [gamma]-radiation do not alter the antimicrobial activity of the antibiotics fosfomycin and gentamicin in the PVP matrix and that dioxidine loses its antimicrobial activity with increasing radiation dose. At low concentrations of the antibiotics, no synergistic effect from the simultaneous use of fosfomycin and gentamicin was observed; it started to develop only at a fosfomycin concentration of 5%.
