The Effect of the Nature of an Apolar Solvent on the Rheological Properties of Protective Compositions

Abstract

The influence of the nature of an apolar solvent on the rheological properties of oil protective compositions containing residues of synthetic carboxylic acids has been studied. It has been shown that an increase in the length of the hydrocarbon chain of the solvent leads to an increase in kinematic or dynamic viscosity of the compositions and an increase in the volume fraction of the dispersed phase, due to the thickness of the solvate shell of aggregates from surfactant molecules.
