Abstract

This review considers methods for the modification of phenol-formaldehyde resins to improve the characteristics of adhesive compositions made on their basis (lower viscosity, higher viability, initial strength gain, and complete strength gain of the adhesive bond; higher elasticity, heat resistance, vibration resistance, and stickiness of the adhesive; ready-glue cost reduction) and to improve the quality of glued-wood materials by reducing the content of toxic substances in the adhesive and their emission.
