Abstract

The curing of phenol-formaldehyde resin, furfural-acetone (FA) monomer, and phenol-formaldehyde resin modified by FA monomer is analyzed by the differential scanning calorimetry method. The dependence of time on 50 and 90% conversion of the resins under investigation on temperature is calculated. The processes of intermolecular interactions leading to curing of these resins are described. It is shown that the modification of phenol-formaldehyde resin by furfural-acetone monomer allows one to increase the curing rate and curing degree and decrease the curing time.
