Abstract

A study of the phytoplankton of the Nizhny Tagil Reservoir using scanning electron microscopy has made it possible to discover Brevilinea kevei, a small diatom genus and species new to the flora of Russia. The minimum valve width and a wider variability of the striae number per 10 µm were revealed from the original description, which made it possible to clarify the diagnosis of the species. New data on the location has made it possible to clarify the ecology and range of Brevilinea kevei.
