Abstract

This review summarizes mainly our findings concerning the synthesis, structure, and properties of molecular bifunctional compounds based on transition metal mononitrosyl complexes combining photochromism and electric conductivity or photochromism and magnetism. Organic π-donors capable of forming electroconducting radical cation salts or anionic magnetic metal complexes, including molecular nanomagnets, were used as the second functional block in the synthesis of bifunctional compounds.
