Phase Equilibrium in the Binary Water–Propane/Butane System

  • Published:
Russian Journal of Physical Chemistry B Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Abstract

Phase equilibrium in the water–propane/butane system is studied with the use of a high-pressure optical cell within a range of temperatures of 403 to 443 K and pressures of 5.28—20.66 MPa, and type V phase behavior is established. The water solubility in a supercritical propane–butane mixture is estimated under the mentioned conditions from the characteristics of the vapor branch of phase equilibrium in the water–propane/butane mixture and described by the Peng–Robinson equation of state in combination with the Mukhopadhyay–Rao mixing rule.
