Abstract

The thermal decomposition of high-energy N-[2,2-bis(methoxy-NNO-azoxy)ethyl]-4-nitropyrazole is studied and the composition of the products formed is determined using differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetry, mass spectrometry, and IR spectroscopy. Its heat of melting, as well as the heat and energy of activation and the preexponential factor for its thermal decomposition, have been determined. The mechanism of the process is discussed. It is shown that introducing a nitropyrazole fragment into a diazene oxide molecule does not lead to a decrease in its thermal stability.
