Kinetics of cation exchange on hetero-framework microporous titano- and zirconosilicates

Abstract

The kinetics of cation-exchange reactions of amorphized and partially decationized mineral terskite (A-terskite) with aqueous solutions of Cs+, K+, Sr2+, and Cu2+ salts (including competitive reactions in the presence of two different cations in the solution), as well as the cation exchange between some other microporous titano- and zirconosilicates (kuzmenkoite-Mn, penkvilksite, sitinakite, zorite, gaidonnayite and zirfesite) and Cs+-bearing solutions, are studied using calorimetry. The total heat release in these reactions is measured. All the studied processes obey the first-order kinetic law. Samples preliminary decationized and amorphized to various degrees, as well as zorite, show highest activity in cation-exchange processes.
