Age and Geodynamic Setting of the Brusilovka Caldera, Sikhote-Alin

Abstract

The absolute age of the Brusilovka paleo-caldera volcanic rocks has been determined for the first time through the LA-ICP-MS U–Pb zircon isotopic dating. The obtained results (~61–56 Ma) are consistent with the Paleocene magmatic stage of the Sikhote-Alin, and the patterns of their structural localization and spatiotemporal distribution are consistent with left-lateral displacements along the Vostochny and Pribrezhny faults. The distribution characteristics of early Paleogene igneous rocks both in the frontal and rear continental-marginal parts of the southern Sikhote-Alin can serve as a basis for paleogeodynamic reconstructions and subsequent metallogenic analysis.
