Dynamic Characteristics of Thermopiles

Abstract

Thermopiles with thermocouples connected in series or in parallel are used to measure the average temperature. When they are used in automatic temperature control systems, it is necessary to know the thermopile transmission function. A thermopile contains thermocouples with individual dynamic properties. Therefore, the thermopile transmission function intricately depends on the individual dynamic characteristics of the thermocouples and their connection scheme. As a rule, the individual dynamic characteristics of thermocouples are known, determined experimentally on certified test facilities. The result of determination of individual dynamic characteristics of thermocouples is the registered transient response or a set transmission function with numerical values of the time constants. The purpose of this study is to identify the type and parameters of the transmission function of a thermopile containing a known number of thermocouples with known individual dynamic characteristics.
