Nonlinear mass transfer and self-organized dissipative structures

Abstract

Nonlinear stability analysis of systems with intensive mass transfer is presented. The stability of laminar boundary layer flows is investigated when a big concentration gradient induces a secondary flow at the solid interface. A self-organized dissipative structure was obtained when the mass transfer was directed from the volume to the solid interface. A stable amplitude of the periodic disturbances was obtained for different wave numbers. This structure is subcritical bifurcation, which intensifies the mass transfer process in the boundary layer flows.
