Abstract

The mass spectra of matrix-assisted laser desorption-ionization of poly(ɛ-caprolactone)diols and poly(ɛ-caprolactone)triols and their derivatization (silylation, acetylation, formylation) products, which are used for more reliable structural attributions, are studied. On the basis of the calculation of number-average molecular masses, it is ascertained that acidic agents released during derivatization and severe reaction conditions do not result in the cleavage of ester bonds.
