Abstract

The oxidation state of dysprosium in aluminosilicate and fluoroaluminate glasses is investigated using 161Dy Mössbauer spectroscopy. It is demonstrated that, in the structure of the glasses under investigation, dysprosium atoms are stabilized in the oxidation state +3. Upon introduction of a reducing agent into the composition of the batch, a part of the dysprosium atoms in the structure of the fluoroaluminate glasses are stabilized in the oxidation state +2.
