Abstract

A fractal model is proposed for the structure of poly(vinyltrimethylsilane). The proposed model explains the large diffusion coefficients for vitreous polymers. This model accounts for the structural features of polymers and diffusing gases. It is demonstrated that the molecular characteristics of the polymer affect the diffusion process.
