Abstract
The sulfa-Michael/aldol cascade reaction of (Z)-2-(arylmethylene)-5,6-dihydroimidazo[2,1-b]thiazol-3(2H)-ones and 1,4-dithiane-2,5-diol afforded novel 2'-aryl-4'-hydroxy-4',5,5',6-tetrahydro-2'H,3H-spiro[imidazo[2,1-b]thiazole-2,3'-thiophen]-3-ones in moderate yields. The structures of all the products were characterized thoroughly by IR and NMR spectroscopy and HRMS, as well as XRD analysis.
