Abstract
The reaction of 3-aryl-1-(2-hydroxyphenyl)prop-2-en-1-ones with methyl 1-bromocyclohexanecarboxylate and zinc resulted in the isolation, after hydrolysis of the reaction mixture, of spirodihydropyran-2-ones containing a 1-(2-hydrohybenzoyl)cyclohexyl substituent in the 6-position. The structure of the products was confirmed X-ray diffraction analysis.
