Abstract
The reactions of levoglucosenone with 2-acetylcyclohexanone and 2-acetyldodecanone occurred as tandem Michael addition and 1: 1 aldol condensation to give the corresponding spiro derivatives. Conditions ensuring 1,2- and 1,4-additions of C5–7, 12-cycloalkanones and enamines derived therefrom to levoglucosenone were found.
