Abstract

Iron pentacarbonyl promots addition of benzyl bromide to benzaldehydes by Zaitsev-Barbier reaction only in the presence of nucleophilic additives [HMPT or (S)-N-benzoyl-2-methoxycarbonylpyrrolidine].
