Abstract

The reactivity of alkyl-substituted cyclohexylbenzenes in liquid-phase oxidation was estimated by the k 2/⇃k 6 value which considerably decreased as the number of methyl groups in the substrate molecule increased. The observed difference in the reactivity of the title compounds was attributed to the degree of coplanarity of intermediate radical species.
