Abstract

A new technology was proposed for the disposal of waste generated after delayed bitumen coking units. It was shown that when pressing small non-commercial fractions of petroleum coke heated without access to air, the granules are much stronger than those obtained in air. The ranges of temperatures and pressures of pressing were found, at which the strength parameters of the granules were sufficient for subsequent treating by calcination in a rotary tubular furnace. A method for calculating the vertical pneumatic transport of a polydisperse system of petroleum coke particles with simultaneous heating to the operating temperatures of pressing was developed. The heating process of a polydisperse porous bulk material in a gas transport pipe was simulated taking into account the drying process of particles in the initial period, as well as a mathematical model was developed for simultaneous drying and heating processes of a polydisperse material in an inhomogeneous fluidized bed apparatus.
