Abstract

Published data on the advantages and drawbacks of using diesel fuels with low and ultralow sulfur content are analyzed. The effect of sulfur compounds on the environmental parameters and operation properties of diesel fuels is considered. Special emphasis is made on the characteristics of modern additives to diesel fuels meeting the European norms and quality standards, including the additives being developed on the basis of synthetic and natural high-molecular-mass compounds. Particular attention is paid to recently developed complex multifunctional additives to diesel fuels.
