Abstract

Electret properties of composites constituted by low-density polyethylene and ferroelectric sodium nitrite were studied. It was found that the increase in the surface potential, electric field strength, electret potential difference between samples, and surface density of electric charges in polyethylene upon introduction of the filler is due to the Maxwell-Wagner effect and to the interaction of ordered domains of the ferroelectric with injected charge carriers. It was demonstrated that composite corona electrets are more thermally stable than those containing only polyethylene.
