Abstract

The object of the research was to test the sorption capacity of carbon sorbents for cleanup of oil products from water. The goal of the work was to test samples of carbon sorbents for the purification of oily waters. A laboratory stand was developed for testing sorbents and assessing their sorption capacity. The concentrations of oil products were determined by UV spectrophotometry and gas chromatography. The results of the work are as follows: (a) a laboratory stand was designed and manufactured for the experimental assessment of the sorption properties of carbon sorbents of different densities; (b) methods of laboratory testing of carbon sorbents were developed to determine their service life as a tool for the cleanup of oil products from water; and (c) the quality of water treatment was checked using chromatographic and spectrophotometric equipment.
